Headliners[Originally published on: Friday, September 07, 2007 ] Swimming the Walk Capable on occasion of breaking through the fabric of reality to arrive in our own world, the Silver Swimmers are said to appear randomly in public places where they may be observed going about their business with butoh-like grace, unaware of the crowds of humanity that surround them and sometimes even accidentally catching a passer-by in one of the fantastic silver bubbles that follow in their wake. Witness this lovely and oddly soothing spectacle for yourself on Saturday when the Silver Swimmers are predicted to school along Cottage Street in Easthampton in conjunction with the monthly Easthampton Art Walk, 5-8 p.m. And if you're not too overwhelmed by their appearance you may even go on to enjoy the music of blues guitarist Mark Nomad (at Luthiers Co-op, 108 Cottage St.), jazz by the Carol Abbe Smith Ensemble (at the Gazebo in Pulaski Park), performance art by the popular fire-and-acrobatics troupe F.A.D.E. (also at the Gazebo) or a show by Northampton singer/songwriter Carrie Ferguson (at the Pioneer Arts Center of Easthampton, 41 Union St.). |
