wünderarts, in association with Zea Mays Printmaking of Florence, MA, presents Artists of Zea Mays. The show, a survey of sixteen artists in the Zea Mays Flat File Project, opens with a reception from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 and runs through July 27.
“We are very excited to work with Zea Mays Printmaking and their terrific member artists,” said wünderarts’ co-director Nora Maroulis. “Printmaking is a wonderfully varied medium and provides both new and experienced collectors with an affordable art buying option.”
The show features the work of Meredith Broberg, Victoria Burge, Liz Chalfin, Stephanie Cramer, Nancy Van Deren, Nancy Diessner, Joan Dix Blair, Anita S. Hunt, Louise Kohrman, Lillianna Pereira, Lynn Peterfreund, Susan Link Silverman, Joyce Silverstone, Claudia Sperry, Margaret Jean Taylor, and Diane Worth. Prints in the exhibition range from $70 – $900.

The “Thursday Night Concerts by the Pond” continue with Yankee Notions performing traditional & contemporary folk on July 3rd at Cushman Library in Bernardston. The concerts take place next to PI Pond (in the Unitarian Church sanctuary, in case of rain) every Thursday at 7:00, from June 26th to July 24th. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, & picnic baskets, & everyone is welcome. Beverages & snacks will also be available from the Friends of Cushman Library as a fundraiser.
Other concerts in the series include easy listening favorites with the Robert & Glenda Holmes Duo on July 10th; classical selections & more from Pioneer Valley Brass on July 17th; & Cidade, playing jazz, Latin, & tango, will round out the series on July 24th.

This summer join us for two plays in the air-conditioned Williston Theatre. Students of The Williston Northampton School’s Summer Theater program present The House that Jack Built on July 2-5 and Hansel and Gretel on July 16-19.
The House that Jack Built is an audience participation comedy about finding a place where you can make your dreams come true. Hansel and Gretel is a musical featuring singing gingerbread people and produced by the same team that brought Sleeping Beauty and Stone Soup to the Williston Theatre Stage. “The shows are going to be a lot of fun for the audience, and kids can look forward to the return of Cow-Cow from last year’s production,“ says David Nields, director of the Williston Theatre.
Both works were adapted by local playwright Noah Smith (The Princess and the Pea and The Bremen Town Musicians). The music and lyrics for Hansel and Gretel were created by David Nields.
All shows are held in the indoor, air-conditioned Williston Theatre and begin at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $5.00. For tickets or further information, please call the box office at (413) 529-3434.

| “My work is an exploration of the relationship between food and identity. My aim is to question our automatic responses and unrealized prejudices towards a certain group of foods I call the “American Diet”. I hope my work playfully challenges the viewer with bizarre juxtapositions calling attention to the absurdity of the unconscious, predisposed “meanings” and value systems we project onto the things that we eat. I hope that these pieces will one day serve as a document of the food and “food products” of the our time and how we relate to them.” My work is a synthesis of the values of Pop Art and Dada in the tradition of by Eduardo Paolozzi and (to a lesser extent) R.B. Kitaj. |

The Lathrop Art Committee's next show opens July 1st. Our featured artist is Meredith Brown, a digital photographer. She finds joy in editing her photographs as a way not only to improve them but also to add a creative, playful flair. For example, she gives cats wings and compiles numerous photos into one. She hopes viewers will walk away with a smile, and be inspired to see simple pleasures in their own lives. Gallery hours are 9-4 daily.

| Kathleen Trestka is an Easthampton-based artist who shows her work in museum, gallery, and juried exhibitions. Threshold is part of an ongoing series of mixed-media drawings that embody the primordial elements from various cultural perspectives around the world. It is the opening sequence for an in-progress five-year project culminating in a multi-media installation that attempts to bridge East and West, ancient and contemporary. |

Ellen Cooney’s new novel LAMBRUSCO is a picaresque, half-comic, half-tragic journey through the war-torn Italian landscape. Her protagonist, an aria-singing cafe owner named Lucia, goes looking in search of her son, a partisan with the Italian Resistance who has disappeared.
We talk to Cooney about Italy, the Resistance, and the courage of ordinary people in times of war. |

Come see what everyone is talking about! Don David does it again with an extraordinary exhibit. The Gallery will continue the exhibit another two weeks plus host another Artist Gallery Talk/ Reception. Images are only $150 each, matted and framed!
This collection of top shelf nature color photographs was created mostly in California. Far from the stereotypical California scenes, these brilliant photos capture and convey strong colors and breathtaking vistas, as well, as close-ups and wildlife images. The photographer, Don David, continues to separate himself from most new England photographers with new work, challenging himself to capture what he sees and feels. "California Dreamin" is a rare must see exhibit. The images are refreshingly different and unique.
Whether his subjects are nature, landscape, or wildlife, Mr. David attempts to portray them as faithfully as he sees the original image, with only the necessary modifications to bring out the natural beauty of the image. All wildlife is photographed in its natural habitat with no artificial setups or lighting. Don attempts to present images that may not ordinarily be observed so that the viewer can discover something new for herself/himself and thus appreciate a unique moment of the beauty in the world around us. Don David's photographs have been recognized with a number of awards.

Art Walk Easthampton has an open call for visual, music and performance artists who would like to showcase their talents during the monthly Art Walk. Each of the venues that participate in the Walk independently select the artist or performer to feature. Visual shows typically last 3-4 weeks while performance and music are for the evening of the event.
You can submit an "Artist Proposal" online by visiting www.ArtWalkEasthampton.org and following the "Call for Artists" link at the bottom of the page. Once you have subscribed to the newsletter and confirmed your subscription, you can submit your proposal.
The process is a 3-page form with a series of questions: types of venues interested in, available dates, number of pieces proposed or length of performance, etc. Your answers form the proposal which is then made available to each of the venues. The venues make the selections. Your proposal is available to them for up to one year.
There are no fees to submit or participate. All Art Walk-related events are non-paid opportunities. |

If a story is selected for airing it will also be available in print and podcast form on the show's website at http://www.lit1033.com. Each show consists of one or two stories with a total word count of 6,000-9,000 words.
If you would like to submit a story for consideration, email it to lit103.3@comcast.net. DO NOT SEND IT AS AN ATTACHMENT, rather,include it in the body of your email, together with any biographical or other relevant information you'd like read before/after the broadcast.
Because the reading is over the public airwaves FCC guidelines apply. Like Norman Mailer in The Naked and the Dead, the reader can fug around with words to a certain extent, but if the overall sexual content is too explicit it won't work. | This workshop is a great way to learn all the basics and nuances of "non-toxic" etching. Through the use of many acrylic resist methods participants will become familiar with a variety of contemporary etching techniques. This workshop will feature the multi-plate method of building a full range of values up to an extreme black using etching processes. Participants will begin with a series of soft ground etches on copper to start developing an image. The image will then be transferred to a second plate and both plates will be treated with aquatint. After reworking each plate with burnishing and scraping the first 'linear' plate will continue to be developed with line and soft ground, while the second 'tonal' plate will receive more aquatint. Both plates will be printed in black and add up to a rich full black and a full range of grays. |

The Summer Arts and Crafts Camps at Create are designed to offer a range of projects in drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media and crafts.
With our 3 hour morning sessions, your children will be exploring and creating a variety of materials, techniques and skills. Students love our spacious, air conditioned studio.
Summer Camps begin the week of July 7th and run every week of the summer ending August 22nd.
